KNOTTING: WHAT IT IS, AND WHY YOU SHOULD READ ABOUT IT

If you’re under 18, you should close this page RIGHT NOW. But if you ended up on my website, it certainly means that you’re into adult romanceS, so I’m not too worried.

So, Mell, what is knotting? you ask me. Listen well, it’s going to sound creepy at first, but trust me, you might discover a whole new world of smutty books.

Let’s get into the science behind it first. Knotting is a term that refers to the swelling of a dog or wolf’s genitals during mating, which causes it to lock inside the partner’s orifice until ejaculation is complete. I know; bear with me.

When we, horny humans, started writing romance books for adults with werewolves and shifters, well, we had an idea. It was both a great and terrible idea. What if they had a knot too, like their animal counterparts? It could be fun.

And it is… It really is. Just give it a chance!

I made a short selection of M/M romance books with knotting for you. You’re welcome. And if you find some great ones during your smutty discoveries, leave them in the comments! My books, too, are included. The Bright Lake Chronicles have knots!

Cursed, mated, and in for the fight of their lives…

Warlock Nate Hawthorne just wants a cup of coffee. Is that too much to ask? Apparently. Because instead of precious caffeine, all he gets is cursed by a pack of werewolves who want to use him for his magic. Now the only way to fix the damage is a mate bond to a grumpy and oh-so-sexy alpha in the rival pack, who happens to hate him. This is so not how he wanted to start his day.

Ian Armitage never intended to take Nate as his mate. The Hawthorne family can’t be trusted. Ian knows that better than anyone. The fact that he’s lusted after the way-too-gorgeous man for years? Totally irrelevant. Ian’s just doing what is necessary to protect his pack. This whole mating arrangement has nothing to do with love and never will. That’s his story and he’s sticking to it.

Nate and Ian will have to work together if they have any hope of staving off the pack’s enemies and averting disaster. That’s assuming they can stop arguing (and keep their hands off each other) long enough to save the day…

A planet at war. Two alphas forced into a political marriage. Attraction that defies all reason and logic… Or does it?

The Kingdom of Pelugia and the Republic of Kadar have been at war for decades. Peace isn’t popular, but the planet can’t survive without it.

Forced to marry an enemy prince for the sake of peace, Senator Royce Cleghorn doesn’t like his husband, his alpha scent, or his damned pretty blue eyes. More than anything, Royce hates what Haydn makes him become: a primitive alpha cliché who’ll do anything to mark his territory, even if that territory is his alpha husband. Royce likes omegas; he isn’t into alphas, no matter how pretty their eyes are. It’s just a weird territorial instinct. It has to be.

Prince Haydn has always tried to be the perfect alpha his father wants him to be. He’s the heir to the throne. He’s a war general. He isn’t supposed to bare his throat to an enemy alpha—and it isn’t supposed to feel so good. Everyone knows a marriage between two alphas is a recipe for disaster. He isn’t supposed to crave his husband—their marriage is just a political arrangement, nothing more.

But when disaster strikes and loyalties are tested, which bond will be the strongest: their marriage, or their allegiances?

Two men haunted by the same ghost…
Falling for “the other man” in my marriage was never part of the plan. Then again, according to Nicolae Ursache, I am the other man, and human wedding vows don’t apply. Not to werewolves.
Nicolae is a smug, arrogant alpha male stereotype–and I do mean alpha in the literal sense–but when the same people who killed my wife kidnap my teenage daughter, he’s my only chance at getting her back. The fact that Nicolae was my wife’s rightful mate means that we share a mutual interest in bringing Ellie home, but I never could’ve imagined how he planned to do it.
I will do anything to protect my daughter. Even if it means becoming the plaything, or worse, of the man I loathe most.

Hello, I’m Mell. I’m a book fiend who lives in the French countryside, where life is all about bees and old castles. I spend my days writing science fiction and fantasy books, and my nights writing queer romances. I’m assisted daily by my grumpy cat Mimi, and Freddie the cactus with glasses.

My first book series, The Lightning Crew, is a space opera. I have since turned my attention to spicy M/M romances with intense plots. My second book series, The Bright Lake Chronicles, is a paranormal romance trilogy. I’m working on a new universe with the Monstrous Whims series.
